Frequently Asked Questions

  • My practice is 100% virtual, which allows me to see clients throughout California. I do not have a “traditional” therapy office, at this time, since most of my clients prefer the virtual therapy format.

  • Research shows that Online Therapy is just as effective as Traditional Therapy.* Online Therapy is convenient, and has allowed my clients to have more freedom in where they choose to have a session. We ask that you be in a private space and have access to a reliable internet source. All Online Sessions take place on a HIPPA Compliant platform (Zoom). A link is sent out before each session which you can then use to access the telehealth platform. Please note, all clients must be signed into their Zoom Account to access the session.

However, It's important to note that the effectiveness of online therapy can vary from person to person, and it may not be suitable for everyone or every mental health concern. The success of online therapy also depends on factors such as the therapist's qualifications, the quality of the internet connection, and the individual's willingness to engage in the process. Ultimately, the choice between online therapy and in-person therapy should be made based on individual needs, preferences, and the nature of the mental health concerns being addressed. It's important to consult with a qualified mental health professional to determine the most appropriate form of treatment for your specific situation.

  • No, at this time, I do not offer in-person sessions. I do offer workshops, retreats, and group sessions that are in-person.

  • For Individual Psychotherapy and most other forms of professional engagement (i.e. consulting another medical provider, caregiver, school, etc.), my rate is $250+ per 50-minute session.

For Relationship Counseling, my rate is $280+ per 50-minute session or $390+ for a 90-minute session.

For Professional Coaching or Consultations, my rate is $300+ per 50-minute session. I also am available to speak at events and businesses, for which the price is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that I do not take insurance of any kind. If you have insurance, please note your provider may reimburse you for “out-of-network” services. Please check with your provider before our first session for coverage. Superbills are provided, upon request. Payment for services are taken upfront and you would then submit the Superbill to your Insurance provider for any possible reimbursement.

    PAYMENT:

Payment is processed via credit, debit, or HSA card after the completion of each session or professional contact.

    PARENT or GUARDIAN CHECK-INs:

To best serve clients, minor clients, or parents of minor clients, I do not charge a fee for check-ins that are 15 minutes or shorter in length. Should a check-in or other non-psychotherapy contact go over 15 minutes, it will be considered a session and the time will be prorated based on my standard fee.

    MISSED OR CANCELED SESSIONS:

Missed and canceled sessions can adversely impact the effectiveness of treatment. I hold your scheduled appointment time specifically for you and you alone. As such, if you join or arrive at a scheduled session late or you have to end a session early, the full fee will still be charged. A charge is also incurred for missed appointments or canceled appointments with less than a 24-hour notice.

    ADDITIONAL FEES:

If you become involved in legal proceedings that require my participation, I will charge for my professional time and services even if I have been called to testify by another party. My fee for preparation and attendance at any legal proceeding is $550 per hour. I will provide bills/receipts at the end of each session and payment is expected upon receipt unless otherwise agreed upon.

  • In your first psychotherapy appointment, you can expect the following:

    1. Introductions: We will start by getting to know each other. I'll introduce myself and provide you with information about the therapy process. You'll also have the opportunity to introduce yourself and share some background about your current concerns and what led you to seek therapy.

    2. Paperwork: You may be asked to complete some initial paperwork, which typically includes consent forms, privacy policies, and information about your rights as a client. This paperwork is essential for establishing a clear and ethical therapeutic relationship.

    3. Assessment: We'll discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals, and any specific issues you'd like to address. I may ask questions to gain a better understanding of your personal history, current circumstances, and emotional well-being.

    4. Confidentiality: I will explain the principles of confidentiality and the limits to it, ensuring that you understand the boundaries of privacy in the therapeutic relationship.

    5. Treatment Plan: We will work together to outline a treatment plan. This plan will include the therapeutic approach or techniques that will be used and an estimated timeframe for therapy. We'll discuss what you hope to achieve in therapy and set initial goals.

    6. Questions: You are encouraged to ask any questions or seek clarification on any concerns you may have about the therapy process, my approach, or any other related topics.

    7. Building Trust: Your first session is an opportunity to begin building a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship. It's a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings, and I'll be here to listen and offer guidance as needed.

Please keep in mind that the specific details of your first psychotherapy appointment may vary depending on what may be going on with you (i.e. crisis) or the specific focus of the intake session. It's also a time for you to assess whether you feel comfortable and confident in working with me. Open communication is key to a successful therapeutic journey, so feel free to express your needs and expectations during the initial session.

  • The duration of your psychological therapy can vary based on several factors, including the specific issues you're addressing, your goals, and your progress in therapy. It's a collaborative process, and together, we'll assess your needs and set realistic expectations for the duration. Some individuals find that they benefit from short-term therapy, which may last a few weeks to a few months, while others may engage in longer-term therapy that can extend for several months or even years. Ultimately, the length of your therapy will depend on your unique circumstances and how effectively we work together to achieve your therapeutic objectives. We can regularly evaluate your progress and make adjustments to the treatment plan as needed.

  • Under the federal No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to provide clients who are not utilizing insurance with an estimate of the anticipated costs for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You are entitled to request a Good Faith Estimate for the complete expected expenses of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy, either before scheduling a service or at any point during your treatment. If you receive a bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you have the option to contest the bill. It's important to retain a copy or a photo of your Good Faith Estimate. For inquiries or more details regarding your right to a Good Faith Estimate and how to challenge a bill, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
